Akins, Gordon Robert…. Passed away peacefully at his family home near Stanwood/Healey Falls area surrounded by his family in his 90th year. Beloved husband for over 64 years to Barbara Akins (nee McMillan). Loving dad to Margaret-Ann Lain (Brian), Ross Akins (Michele) and Ray Akins and predeceased by son Ronald Akins. Dear grandpa to Ryan, Dale, Bradley (Meagan), Kevin (Mairi), Cheyenne (Adam Plume), Eileen Barker-Akins, Gordon Barker-Akins and great grandfather to Emma, Theo and Meadow Belle. Gordon is survived by his sister Tressa Glenn (late Les) and predeceased by sister Helen Robertson (Art) and brother Alfred (Hazel). He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Gordon worked for the Township for many years while working on the family farm at the same time. Over the years, at the family farm, he took care of both dairy cattle and beef cattle. His independence and hard work ethic stayed with him up until the last couple of months. His legacy will be truly remembered by his family and all who knew him. Private visitation will be held at Weaver Campbellford, 77 Second Street, Campbellford and private graveside service will be held Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
