Gordon Ralph
October 05, 1950 – December 21, 2020
It is with great regret and sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Ralph on December 21, 2020.
Predeceased by his father Clifford, his mother Vera, and his sister Joan Clark. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his four children: Gerald (Sheri) Ralph, Leslie (Bryan) Tucker, Stewart Ralph, and Natalie (Jeff) Smart, and their mother Jocelyn Ralph; his grandchildren Jocelyn, Evan, and Sawyer Ralph, Claire, Paige, and Jonah Tucker, Gabriel and Oliver Ralph, Theo and Brendan Smart; sister Carol Goodman (Bob); brothers Colin (Betty), Eric (Jackie) and Allan Ralph; and special Aunt Audrey Lee. Also, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a large circle of friends and acquaintances near and far.
Gord’s passion for teaching was second only to his love of theater and drama. He was an acclaimed and award-winning director and actor, winning best supporting actor for the province in 2017 as his latest and last award. He could recite Shakespeare and Smokeroom on the Kyle in the same performance. He taught in both high school and university throughout Central Newfoundland, Labrador West and St. John’s, coached baseball and volleyball to support his children’s athletic endeavors and loved hunting, fishing and the solitude of his cabin.
Wherever he was, people were always laughing, at, with or because of him. His unique light has gone out in the world, but the creative sparks he ignited, the fires he lit within countless individuals, continue to rage on. He will be missed by all who were blessed to experience his enthusiasm, but he will be missed most by his family.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation and funeral service details to be provided in the coming days.
“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts.”
-William Shakespeare
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gordon Ralph 2020..
