Obituary
Gordon Peter Spooner passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home in South Hazelton, BC, where had lived for 52 years. He was born in Hazelton and lived there most of his 75 years. When he was a young boy his family lived in Usk, BC for a short time. He married his sweetheart Louise in 1967 and they had 3 children, Sherry, Theresa, and Rick. He had various jobs back then but soon was hooked on the logging industry, running many different machines, and having many different rolls. His big claim to fame in the industry was his passion and skill for hand falling. He was very well known for being one of the best fallers in the area. As age crept up on him, he switched to road building and owning his own machine. Sometime around 1978 he started taking a break from falling in the fall and worked as a hunting guide for Love Bros & Lee Outfitters for a few seasons. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting, gardening, camping, and fishing with family and friends. The list is endless. For the last 17 years Gordie could most often be found in his garden, working in his shop, working on his own and friend’s woodpiles, and snow plowing. Seemed no matter what he was working on it was mostly fixing, doing, and helping others. He will also be remembered as having a great love for his dogs.
Gordie was predeceased by his wife Louise of 36 years in 2003. He is survived by his daughters Sherry (Shawn) Davidson, Theresa (Dave) McKee; son Rick (Brenda) Spooner; grandchildren Megan, Katie, Cam, Marty, Cody, Ian, Araya, and Zoe.
Gordie’s family is overwhelmed by all the support from so many people. The help with food, tables, chairs, tents, yard work, memories and stories shared. Thank You ❤️
A Celebration of Life was held on Aug.22nd in South Hazelton.
