Gordon Joseph’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon (Waxy) Clare announce his passing at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Health on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at the age of 91 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his children: Derek, Brian, Maureen (Earl), and Sean; Granddaughter: Maria Leonard (Tyler), Poppy’s Angel; stepmother-in-law: Rachel McKay; sisters-in-law: Sylvia Gillam, Valerie Cassell and Rhoda Howe; brother-in-law: Bob Short; special friend: Matt George; The Kelly Families; The O’Leary Families; much loved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Waxy was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gladys Clare (nee Gillam); his baby boy; his parents: John & Martha Clare; parents-in-law: Nelson & Trixie Gillam; sisters-in-law: Mary Short, Una Hulan and Verna Gillam; brothers-in-law: Rodney Hulan, Spencer Gillam, Ross Cassell and Warren Howe. At Waxy’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be a private funeral taking place at Country Haven Funeral Home with Father Edward Terry officiating with interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Section of Townsite Cemetery, Corner Brook. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Alzheimer’s Society or to a charity of one’s choice. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Nicola Penney, Michelle King, Care Coordinator and the nurses & staff of the Palliative Care Unit of Western Health.
