Obituary
With family at his side, our much-loved father, husband, grandpa, papa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend left us peacefully from heart failure at age 85.
Gordon is survived by his wife Jeanne, daughter Joanne (Tim) Hendrix, his son Craig (Teresa) Stokke, daughter-in-law Kathie (Scott) Blakeman, and nine grandchildren; Travis, Harrison, Melanie, and Ryan Hendrix; Emily and Megan Stokke; and Kaila, Brendan, and Averi Blakeman. Also surviving Gordon is his sister Myrtle (Harstad) Yelland. Although they met less than a year ago, Myrt has filled his heart every day since.
Gordon was predeceased by his son David in 1996, his parents John and Dagmar Stokke, and cousins Andy and Renne Anderson.
Gordon was proud of the time he spent with the Calgary Police Service, his business accomplishments, his “gift of the gab”, and his many, decades-long friendships. He loved to tell stories and make people laugh.
Our family is grateful for the tremendous care Gordon received at Trinity Lodge over the past several years, and more recently, on Unit 66 at South Health Campus.
Because of COVID-19, we will delay the memorial service until spring 2021. We feel it’s important to provide family and friends an opportunity to gather and remember Gordon properly. Instead of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
