Our Mother, Glenna Elevia (Sprague) Curtis made her grand entrance into heaven on Saturday, November 14th , 2020, in her 97th year, at the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre, Ottawa. Our Mom, leaves behind her three children; her daughter Gayle Johnston (late James) Ottawa, her son Gary Curtis (Muriel) Peterborough and her daughter Cheryl Marshall (Dale) Prescott. Seven grandchildren Joel Curtis (Lora), Jennifer Marx (Dwayne), Kenton Johnston, Aaron Marshall (Jennifer), Kristi Wilde (Alan), Chera Ball (Jimmy),Sarah Kobia (Kofi), and her ten great grandchildren; Eric, Julia, Dawson, Benjamin, MacKenzie, Matthew, Hailey, Ashlynn,
It truly didn’t matter to her if you were actually related or not, once she adopted you into her heart you were hers and she added you to her prayer list. She had a beautiful heart for people, a wonderful prayer life and she loved her hymns. Clarkson and Deighton. Her sisters Kay McIntosh (late Leslie), Shirley Buckingham (Kerri) and many loved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her infant son, Russell Gary Curtis, her parents, Samuel and Tessa (nee Chapman) Sprague, her sister Joyce Sprague, her brother Coral Sprague, infant brother Malcolm, her niece Linda Gaunce ,her sisters- in- law, Eloise, Phoebe, Frances, Leora and Lillian as well as several best friends.
Our Mom served in the Second World War with the CWAC in an Administration unit in St. John, New Brunswick and was very honoured to have done so. She took such pride in her service to her country.
Mom was a wonderful story teller, some of our favourite memories are of being curled up beside her listening to her regaling us with stories from her childhood and life along the Tobique River in New Brunswick where she grew up.
Being a single Mom she held many jobs in her life trying to provide for her family.
She had a true Momma’s heart loving and caring for her children to the very best of her ability. She also loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with her whole heart and prayed for them daily.
A Private Family Service will be held at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke, followed by Interment at Freewill Baptist Cemetery in Florenceville/Bristol, New Brunswick. In memory of Glenna donations to The Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre or Emmanuel Lighthouse Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
