Giuseppe Joe Parlongo 1937 2020

Obituary of Giuseppe Parlongo
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Giuseppe “Joe” Parlongo, on June 26, 2020 at the age of 83, at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
Joe was born in and grew up in Ternicola, Italy. He moved to Canada in 1959 and worked in multiple locations across B.C., before settling in Cranbrook, B.C., in 1973.
Joe enjoyed the outdoors in all its forms. He was an avid gardener and cultivated quite a home garden; he would provide free horticulture advice to anyone requesting help. Hunting and fishing were his favorite pastimes, spending countless hours with his children and friends on the land and the lakes surrounding Cranbrook. Joe loved animals and was especially fond of his little Jack Russel dog, Sparky. Many will remember Joe and Sparky taking long walks around Cranbrook.
His family and friends will miss the many stories he shared about his time in B.C., and the Old Country.
Joe was predeceased by his brothers, Ferdinando and Antonio, and sister, Carmela.
He is survived by his wife Maria, sons Domenic and Robert, and daughter Rosanna (Jon) and granddaughters, Isla and Ana, and brother Vincenzo and sister Maria.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.

  1. Offering our sincere sympathy in the passing of Joe Parlongo. If his parents were Dominic and Rosaria, then my sister’s husband was Fred Parlongo from Vancouver, BC. Both have passed away. Because the name “Parlongo” is not very common I thought this might be part of the family. I had met several of his brothers years ago.
