Giovannina Feraco (Perri)
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Giovannina Feraco (nee Perri), loving wife of 75 years to the late Gaspare, who passed away August 7, 2015, announces her passing on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the age of 99 years.
Giovannina was born on June 23, 1921 in Aiello Calabro, Cosenza, Italy, daughter of Angela Brillante and Antonio Perri.
Giovannina is survived by her son, Geniale (Rose Marie) Feraco of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughters, Barbara and Ida Lucia of Edmonton; grandchildren, Anthony Gaspare and Joanne; one great-grandchild Nicole Rose; her brother, Emilio (Fortunata) Perri; brother-in-law, Michele Caputo; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
She is predeceased by her sisters, Antonia (Raffaele) Caputo, Concetta Caputo and Maria (Orlando) Rino; and brother, Luigi (Concetta) Perri.
Giovannina always said that coming to Canada in 1958 was a blessing. She loved her new home and she felt so fortunate to see her family prosper and happy when her brothers and sisters followed.
Giovannina was a very competitive person. She loved to win whether playing cards or bocce. Her greatest passions were her family, her garden, and the Edmonton Oilers.
Giovannina was a devoted wife and mother, a great cook, the perfect Italian Mamma. Our mother and father made many sacrifices so we could go from poverty to prosperity. They gave us a better life then they experienced. We are truly grateful to have had such wonderful parents and now they are together forever.
Public Viewing for family and friends who wish to pay their respects will be held on Friday, January 1, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Park Memorial Funeral Home, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton.
Funeral Mass Saturday, January 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church, 9110 – 110 Avenue, Edmonton. Reverend George Puramadathil CFIC officiating with entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions a private service will be held. The Viewing and Funeral Mass will be live-streamed at www.parkmemorial.com.
In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
