It is with heavy hearts we announce that John put in his final shift on November 17, 2020. After a long battle with lung disease, John passed peacefully at the Sturgeon Community Hospital with his daughter Heather at his side. John was born in Birkenhead, England on May 4th, 1940. He immigrated to Canada in 1960 and worked the gold mines in Timmons, Ontario. John acquired his Second-Class Power Engineers ticket and worked various petrochemical plants before moving to Alberta in 1975. He loved his work, and he was proud of his many accomplishments. John will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 43 years, Sharon, his four daughters; Jan Demuth (Bill), Andra Bellavance (Denis), Susan Gillison, and Heather Gillison, his grandchildren; Bradley, Bethany, Miranda, Isabella, and his precious Chantel, and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister Dorothy in England. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Susan, and his brother Bill. At John’s request, there will be no service. Any memorial donations can be made to STARS Air Ambulance. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to our local EMT’s and the doctors and nurses at Sturgeon Community Hospital for their exemplary care and compassion.
I’ve lived a life that’s full
I traveled each and every highway
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gillison John James November 17 2020..
