GILL, Alice Victoria (née Buehler)
—
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Victoria Gill on Tuesday, March 24th, 2020; our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered as a beautiful soul with a loving heart and giving hands who was always there for her family and her friends. She offered unconditional love, kindness and caring ways in all she did for her family and for all who had the opportunity to know her.
Alice is survived by the love of her life of more than 61 years, Royce; daughter Paulette (Gerald), son Curtis (Chantal); grandchildren Mathew (Leanna), Michael (Susan), Landon and McKenna; great-grandchildren Easton, Myla and Nixon. She is survived by her two sisters Alma Sept and Viola Lesyshen; brother-in-law Melvin Gill (Daphne); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice was born near Burstall, SK and grew up on the family farm. She enjoyed playing ball, tobogganing on Buehler Hill, going to school and working on the farm with her two sisters and parents. She became a CNA/LPN at the Leader Union Hospital where she met the love of her life, Royce. She looked forward to going dancing every Saturday night in Sceptre. They moved a number of times (Regina, Swift Current, North Battleford, Weyburn, Regina, Pasqua Lake and Kelowna) creating lasting friendships and memories along the way. Along with raising children and working, she hosted numerous social gatherings complete with her wonderful cooking and baking.
She loved spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought a sparkle to her eyes and a smile to her face. She enjoyed curling and golfing, looking through recipes, sewing, knitting and crocheting, sitting on the patio watching the world go by, and enjoying a happy hour visiting with neighbors.
In Fort Qu’Appelle and Kelowna she was a proud member of the Red Hat Club. She contributed to her church and community. Through all the health issues she endured over the past number of years she never stopped caring for her family and appreciating and loving us all.
We would like to thank the Nurses, Doctors and Support Staff at Kelowna General Hospital and Hospice House who cared for her and for us during this most difficult time; you have truly made a difference in our lives.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date when it is safe for family and friends to come together to celebrate Alice’s life. Alice’s obituary on the Springfield Funeral Home site will be updated once a date has been determined. In lieu of flowers, we would like to recognize all the wonderful care and support she received at Kelowna General Hospital. Therefore, those wishing to make a Gift in Memory can do so to The Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, www.kghfoundation.com, or a charity of your choice. Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of GILL Alice Victoria nee Buehler —..
