Gilbert Earl Johnston
Peacefully at the Sunnybrook Hospital Toronto, on Tuesday June 9th, 2020. Gilbert Johnston of Smiths Falls and formerly of Frankville at the age 88 years. Predeceased by his first wife the former Barbara Parrish and by his second wife, the former Dorothy MacMillan. Dear father of Gary Christopher Earl Johnston and Norma Jean Hoorn. Special grandfather of Jessica ( Jessie ) Hoorn ( KC MacDonald ) and his son ( Damon ). Step-father to Randy Hammond ( Audrey ), Bonnie Rupert ( Doug ) and Cindy Johnson ( Ron ). Also survived by 5 step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren. Special brother of Gertrude Morrison and Garfield Johnston ( Belva ). Predeceased by 4 brothers and 2 sisters, Guy Grant, Glen and Garnet Johnston, Greta Crummy and Grace Woodcock. Also survived by 3 sisters-in-law, Doris Johnston, Shirley Johnston and Doris Johnston. Gilbert will be sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Private Family Service will be held at Judson Funeral Home Athens, on Saturday June 13, 2020, with a Public Visitation and Celebration of Life, to be held at a later date. Gib’s family and friends have said good-bye to a dear soul. I only knew Gib for the last18 months of his life, but treasured him as a thoughtful, humble and faithful disciple of the Jesus Christ. His every thought was for his Lord and for others. He will be sorely missed. While he enjoys the eternal fruits of his life, may his memory continue to be a challenge to each of us who remember him.
