Obituary
Gideon was born to Salvador and Elisea Napod on March 9, 1953, in Silang Cavite, Philippines. He was the eldest of six children. The family lived in Malagbag, Silang, Cavite until 1957. They moved to Caloocan City when his father decided to finish his bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Philippine Union College (now the Adventist University of the Philippines).
Gideon went to school in PUC until fifth grade. The family moved to the Bicol region when his father was called to work for Southern Luzon Mission of SDA in 1965. Gideon graduated from Legaspi SDA Elementary school in 1966. He went to Naga View Academy, where he finished high school in 1970. Gideon started college in PUC but shifted his studies to radiology in one of the schools in Manila, Philippines. He finished with a degree in Radiological Technology.
He worked for the Overseas Employment Development Board in Manila for a short period of time. He got an opportunity to work abroad in Saudi Arabia as a Radiology Technician for King Khalid Hospital from 1982 to 1989. While in Saudi Arabia, he met Thess, with whom he shared three wonderful children Don Carlo, Dean Marco, and April. Although their relationship did not last, they stayed friends and raised their three beautiful children.
Gideon met Blessy in 1996. They got married on January 25, 1998. They were blessed with a daughter nine months later whom they called Hersea. They lived in San Pablo City, Laguna, Philippines until Blessy moved to Red Deer, Alberta, in 2003. Gideon and Hersea followed four years later. It was a happy time for the family because Gideon’s two sisters and youngest brother all lived in the same city with their families.
Family gatherings are his favorites, especially sundown worships or just sharing food in somebody’s house. Family outings, vacations to the mountains, and houseboating are tremendously enjoyed by Gideon and all the family. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with. Gideon is such a comedian. Never a dull moment when he is around.
Gideon was predeceased by his Father Salvador, sister Elsa, and brother Samuel. He is survived by his loving wife Blessy, daughter Hersea, sons Don Carlo and Dean Marco, daughter April, his mother Elisea, who is 91 years old, sisters: Dory (Ron) Quines, Medilyn (Rod) Caponpon and Wilma (Levie) Sulit, nephews: Ritchie (Nanette), Michael (Emmylou), Bryan (Ivy), Franz (Linda), John, James, Peter, Brandon, nieces: Christine (Jericho), Sheryl, sister-in-law Shirley and Tess.
Life will never be the same without him, but the great reunion is coming when Jesus comes!
