Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on January 22, 2020, Gertrude Laura Pelley age 89 years of Hants Harbour, Trinity Bay. Predeceased by her grandparents Louisa and Archibald Loder, parents Bertha and Ariel Green, step-father Arthur Soper, brother Frederick Green and son Derick Green.
Leaving to mourn with precious and loving memories husband Leonard Pelley, daughter- in-law Hollie Green, grandson Todd (Cindy) Green, her precious great grandsons Morgan and Riley Green, brother and sister-in-law John and Myrtle Soper, sister-in-law Olive Green, sister-in-law Velma ( Ron) Piercey and brother-in-law Cecil (Shirley) Pelley and families. Also leaving to mourn her sisters of United Church Women as well as members of the Willow Tree Heritage Society and especially ” The Bag Ladies” whom she devoted her time over the past 25 years. Gertie was a dedicated member of the United Church and served in many offices during her lifetime. She devoted much of her time to the Heritage Society more particularly the Museum and the recycling project. She will be missed by all that knew her. As per Gertie’s request cremation has taken place. Resting at Green’s Funeral Home, Winterton. Visiting hours Friday 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Saturday January 25th at 2:00 p.m. from Calvary Pentecostal Church, Hant’s Harbour. Inurnment to take place in the United Church Cemetery,Hant’s Harbour. Donations in her memory may be made to the United Church Cemetery Fund, Hant’s Harbour.
