Gerhard’s Obituary
It is with great sadness we mark the peaceful passing of Gerhard Eugen Hirt
on 03 December 2020 at the High Level Alberta Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
He is Gary to family and was born on 23 February 1958 in Edmonton to
Eugen and Hilma Hirt.
He relocated to his cherished community of High Level in 01 August 1985. He
worked hard to start and grow his business Hirt’s Vacuum Truck Service Ltd.
in 01 August 1995 based in Mackenzie County .
He was a great enthusiast of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
He is predeceased by his father Eugen, and survived by his loving and
devoted wife Elizabeth M. Bernales – Hirt, mother Hilma, his sons Taylor and
Daniel; step daughter Shermaine, grandson Daxton, brother Harold and sister
Monica (Pat), and his many nephews and nieces.
He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held on 12 December 2020 at Our lady of Good
Counsel Catholic Church High Level . Due to Covid 19 restrictions indoor
participation will be limited.
A closed casket viewing will be held from 10:30 to 12:30 P.M.; 10 people at a
time could do the viewing. Everyone is required to wear masks and practice
social distancing in and out of the church. Masks and hand sanitizers will be
available to be used in the church.
The celebration of his life will be at 1:00 P.M. and will be broadcast live.

Internment will follow in the Town of High Level Cemetery, North of High
Level. The family suggest instead of flowers, memorials be made to the High
Level Agricultural Society ( 780 926 1716 ); or the Northwest Health
Foundation ( 780 841 3241 ); or to the charity of one’s choice.
