Gerald Charles Savage 1927 2020

Obituary of Gerald Charles Savage
Gerald Savage of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on November 17, 2020 with family at his side, at the age of 93. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Avona, and his five children Colin (Alison), Carol Ann (Raymond), Ian, Timothy and Christine (Ian), and granddaughter Alicia.
Gerry loved photography and art. A good friend always described him as the last true renaissance man. He read a huge variety of literature and had a constantly curious mind throughout his life. He eventually ended up teaching art and photography at E.D Feehan High School for over 20 years where many students experienced the discipline and passion of his calling.
Gerry and Avona spent many an hour travelling the width and breadth of Saskatchewan in search of the perfect photographic shot. He captured the essence of our provincial landscape in all seasons and was an avid naturalist, growing tomatoes and flowers from seed to plant at home.
Gerry was grateful for the compassionate care of Village Rose Home Health Care and St Paul’s Hospital emergency and 5th floor Medical staff. His family also experienced the loving support of those caregivers and express their heartfelt thanks.
A private funeral mass will be held November 20, 2020 at St Augustine Catholic Church. The family will arrange a memorial event for the spring of 2021 when it is more suitable for a wider circle of family and friends to gather to celebrate Gerry’s life.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the CNIB or St Paul’s Hospital Foundation.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gerald
