Gerald William “Gerry” Foote
1937-2020
Gerald William “Gerry” Foote – age 82,
passed away on November 30, 2020, in Grand View Manor,
Berwick. Gerry grew up in Woodville and attended the Nova
Scotia Agricultural College (class of ’56), graduating from
Macdonald College, Montreal with a BSc. (Agr.) in 1958. He
worked for the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture in Pictou Co.
until 1963, when he moved to Wolfville to attend Acadia
University. He graduated with a B.Ed. in 1964 and moved to
Kentville where he began teaching at what was then the Kings Co.
Vocational School. He retired in 1995 as Vice Principal of what is now
NSCC – Kingstec Campus. Gerry volunteered as a Cub leader,
and minor hockey coach and was a member of the Kentville Kinsman Club
and later the K-40 Club. After retirement, he volunteered at
Fidelis House. He spent many happy hours working with wood,
especially making walking sticks, and toys for his
grandchildren. Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Robert
William and Dora, brother Reg. He is survived by his wife,
Pat; sons, Bruce (Janice), Woodville, and Brian (Michele) Montreal;
grandchildren, Andrew, Lauren, Liam and Charlotte. The family would
like to thank the staff at Grand View Manor for the compassion shown
as they cared for Gerry during the time he was a resident
there. Cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19, there
will be no service at this time. Donations in memory may be
made to Grand View Manor, Fidelis House, or charity of choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
