It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald
“Jerry” Zadorozny announce his passing, due to complications
from a stroke, on Sunday November 29, 2020 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers
Hospital in Fredericton, NB at the age of 83. He will be lovingly
remembered by his wife Phyllis; his daughter Brenda
(Tony); his 3 grandchildren Christopher, Holly (Diego) and
Alexander, family relatives and friends. Jerry was
predeceased by his parents, his daughter Darlene, his son Michael and
many brothers and sisters.
Jerry immigrated to Canada from Ukraine in 1937 with his
parents and many siblings. The family initially settled in
Alberta before moving to Montreal where he spent most of his life
before moving to Fredericton with his wife in 2008. He began his
career with the Royal Canadian Air Force before moving on to
employment as an aircraft mechanic with Air Canada. He took
great pride in his work and retired in 2002. Jerry had a passion for
traveling, gardening and birdwatching. He loved to display
the awesome treasures that he collected from family trips around the
world. His favorite pastime was to watch the swallows return
to his handmade birdhouses every spring. He always made sure
that the little houses were ready for their arrival and were protected
from any predators. Jerry was also a meticulous handyman and
gardener, which showed when he renovated his first home from top to
bottom and tended to his roses.
Due to the current COVID situation, there will be no
visitation or services. A memorial will be held when it is
safe for family and friends to gather.
Bishops funeral home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton NB,
have been entrusted with the arrangements. For those who wish
to make a donation in Jerry’s memory, the family have suggested a
donation to your local chapter of the SPCA or animal
shelter.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gerald Jerry Zadorozny 19372020..
