Obituary of Gerald “Gerry” Roderick Robar
ROBAR, Gerald “Gerry” Roderick – It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald Roderick Robar, age 84 of Bridgewater, announces his passing on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born May 10, 1935 in North River, he was the only son of the late Leon and Verna (Acker) Robar.
Gerry worked as a body man for many years. He also worked on Irving boats and was a second engineer for a number of years until he had to quite due to health reasons. He had a wide circle of friends and especially loved hunting, fishing and the weekends at his friend’s camp.
Gerry will be missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Loretta (Dagley); two daughters from a previous marriage, Valerie and Julia (Brad) Reed; brother-in-law, Gardner Carver; nephew, Brian (Ann) Carver, Bridgewater; stepdaughter, Debbie Lohnes; stepson, Jeffery (Patricia) Lohnes; two grandsons, Jamie and Timothy; also a number of great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Ferne Carver.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Team, the VON and anyone else who helped, we could not have done it without you. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. Keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. No flowers by request please. Memorial donations in Gerry’s memory may be made to the VON or a charity of your choice.
