Gerald Aurel Payette Tuesday May 5th 2020

Gerald Auriel Payette
Oct 13, 1932 to May 5, 2020 (age 87)
With great sorrow, our family announces the death Gerald in his own home in Gogama, Ont. Gerald is survived by his wife, Mildred. Predeceased by his sons, Daniel (Cheryl) and Roderick. Survived by his children, Paul (Marcia), Peter (Mary) and Laurie (Larry). Grampa to Marsha, Carolyn, Erica, Katelyn, Kyle, Daniel, Garrett, Mitchell, Taylor, Tristan, and Michael. Predeceased by his brothers Conrad, Marcel, and Maurice and sisters Yolande, Jeannine and Lillian. Survived by his brother Jean-Guy and his sisters Estelle Metcalfe and Raymonde Olsen. Gerald is also survived by his half-brother Maurice Naveau, whom he met later in life and developed a friendship. Gerald was born in Gogama, then lived in Ottawa, South Porcupine, Mattagami, Quebec City and return to Gogama in 1977. Gerald was a devoted husband, father and a truly hard-working person. He was a talented and skilled commercial pilot, licenced mechanic and electrician, and a furnace technician. He personally built three of his own homes. He loved to spend hours talking about his flying adventures and had a wicked sense of humour. He had a full life and lived independently in his own home until his passing. We love you and you will be dearly missed.
With the current pandemic situation, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home in Sudbury, Ontario.
