Obituary of George Eric Taylor
TAYLOR, George Eric
1928 – 2020
I am sad to announce the death of my beloved husband of 64 years, George Eric Taylor, on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Kingston General Hospital. George was 91. He was the proud father of Paul (LaTonya), Peter (Hazel), Laura (Philip), and cherished his four grandchildren: Maxwell (Emily), Mason, Lauren and Hannah.
George was born May 28, 1928, to Osborne George Taylor and Olive Galbraith; the youngest of five children. He grew up on the family farm in Trafalgar Township, north of Oakville, Ontario, adventuring in his later teen years to work on Hydro projects in Northern Ontario.
George started his early career at AVRO Canada at Malton, Ontario, in the 1950’s, working on the iconic Canadian aviation milestones, the Jetliner and the Avro Arrow. He worked for the Ontario Department of Highways for 30 years and seven more as a consultant, and was involved in the construction of the majority of provincial highways in Eastern Ontario.
George took pride in the home he built and in which we’ve lived for over five decades. His enjoyment came from gardening, especially his flowers.
In accordance with George’s wishes, cremation at James Reid Crematorium will be followed by a private graveside service at Cataraqui Cemetery with Reverend Blair Peever officiating. A celebration of life will be held when the spring flowers are in full bloom, location and time to be announced when details are finalized. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
I have been truly blessed to have had him as my husband. Since our marriage on July 30, 1955, I have cherished my time with this dear man and will miss him terribly – we all will. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and kind gestures.
Ivy Taylor and family
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of George
