Obituary of George Cipu
A sudden end to one of the most LOVED men in West Elgin. On Friday April 24th, 2020, George Michael Cipu left this world hours before his 72nd birthday. George Cipu was a kind, friendly man who left his mark and will never be forgotten. Cherished by his boys, Chris, Jeff (Linda) and David (Stacy) and their mom Mary Marg Cipu. He was the proudest Grandpa George (GG) and biggest fan to Lauren, Brett, Riley, Evan, Emma and Hailey. Dear brother and best friend to Vera Sudicky and Flo (Joe) Vergeer. George leaves behind many nieces and nephews that looked up to him and spent a life time laughing and learning from their uncle George as did the entire community. Predecessed. by his parents Andrew Cipu (2007) and Virginia (Lapadat (2018). George was a dedicated teacher and Director of Technology at West Elgin Secondary School for many years.
The family will be hosting a celebration of George’s life in the future but in the meantime, friends are welcome to share their condolences and favourite pictures of “Big G” at www.rodneyfuneralhome.com. Dennings of Rodney is honoured to be entrusted with caring for George and his family. If desired, memorial contributions to the George Cipu Technology memorial award by cheque would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy . 519-785-0810

Many people come in and out of our lives but very few leave a lasting impact. George was one of those few. George and I used to have coffee every morning before the students arrived at West Elgin S.S. We would solve all the world’s problems , talk about our families and end off with one of George’s famous jokes. George was intensely proud of his family and as a friend he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Dave, Chris, Cemento you father was a one of a kind, a true gentleman, someone I will never forget.
George, farewell my friend, I’m glad we had a chance to talk days before you left this world. I will fondly remember our times at West Elgin S.S. We will meet again someday and catch up on old times, have a coffee and yes I’ll listen to those jokes I heard once before. God Bless.
