July 25, 1922 – March 12, 2020
George passed away peacefully in his 98th year. Beloved husband of the late Marion Isabel Devine. Much loved father of Brian Douglas (Denise Arsenault). Proud and cherished grandfather of Christopher (Sinem Parmaksiz) and Lisa (Christopher Fagan). Great-grandfather of Henry and Teddy Fagan. Dear uncle to Stuart, Neil and Daniel White; Heather, David and Lynn Cockbain; Scott and Leslie Woodard; Heather and David Bissett. Predeceased by his parents Walter Wilfred and Violet Jane (nee Pownall) and by a brother Norman (Jean Bethune – surviving), and by sisters Hazel (Joe Cockbain) and Viola (John Woodard). George had a lifelong career with and retired from the Canadian Pacific Railway in Montreal. His passions were golf and woodworking. Special thanks to all the caring staff at Granite Ridge Long Term Specialty Care. There will be a private family interment graveside ceremony for George and Marion. Family and friends will be notified of a future memorial service. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County or Granite Ridge Specialty Care, 5501 Abbott Street East, Stittsville, ON. K2S 2C5.
