Obituary
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 from the hours of 3-7 p.m. at Fundy Funeral Home. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. Please note that physical distancing measures will be observed. Masks are strongly recommended.
It is with great sadness the family of George Thomas Lamont announce his unexpected passing which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Born in Saint John on May 31, 1937 he was the son of the late Thomas and Agnes (Downie) Lamont.
After retiring from the NB Housing and Canadian National Railways, he kept himself active by travelling, volunteering, enjoying family gatherings and the outdoors with his canine companion Crosby.
George is survived by his wife Frances (London) Lamont, daughters; Kathryn (late Joe) Richard, Lynn Lamont (Michael) McGinnis, Janet Lamont, son; Geordie Lamont (Ann Redfurn), grandchildren; Jason Richard, Kalyn (Kyle) Breen, Matthew (Danika) Lamont, Ben Lamont-McGinnis, Olivia Lamont (Johnny MacLean), Hilary Lamont, great-grandchildren; Sophia and Avery Richard, Kyson and Kelton Breen, Alexia and Thomas Lamont, Prezleigh and Weylyn MacLean and Kendrick Lamont. Also survived by his brother; Ian (Jean) Lamont and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will also be remembered by his sisters and brothers-in-law; Norma Gilliland, Donna (Sholly) Mills, Ann Foster, Janice (Gary) Ross, Edward (Donna) London, Gail (John) Ross, Wanda (Rick Lawlor) London, Frederick London, Wayne London (Kathryn Scovil), and Don Geldart.
George created a lot of lasting memories over the years and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
George was predeceased by his parents, along with his brothers and sisters; Wallace Lamont, Slyvia Hall, Alexia Hart, Eric Lamont, Laureen Shonaman, Colin Lamont, Donald Lamont, his sisters and brothers-in-law; Thomas Hart, Ron Shonoman, Patricia Lamont, Vonnie Lamont, Barb Lamont, Shirley Geldart, Fred Gilliland, Joyce London, Charlie and Patricia London, Doug Foster, as well his father and mother in law; Charles and Mae London.
In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory can be made to the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bobby’s Hospice, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
