George’s Obituary
PLYMOUTH – George Stewart Leonard, 92, Plymouth, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 18, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Edwin Stewart and Dorothy Mae (Roach) Leonard. George graduated from Agriculture College, Truro in 1947 and worked on the family farm where he raised Guernsey cattle. Following sale of the family farm, he worked with Farmer’s Dairy for several years until 1972 when he was employed as a ROP inspector with the Federal department of Agriculture until 1988. Upon privatisation to ADLIC he continued working until 1991. He and his late wife had raised purebred Alpine Dairy goats and were members of the Nova Scotia Dairy Goat Association. George enjoyed camping throughout Canada and New England and, wintering in Florida. For George, “Life has changed; not ended!”
Surviving are daughters, Margaret “Peggy”, Plymouth; Patricia “Patty”, Stellarton.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Alice; brother, Edwin in infancy.
A public graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, October 22nd in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
