George Heinrich Schwarting Tuesday December 8th 2020

On the morning of December 8, 2020 George Heinrich Schwarting passed away peacefully in his home in Flesherton in his 85th year of life. Loving father and proud father of four children. He was loved and will be remembered and forever missed by his two daughters in Victoria, B.C., Hildegard (Brett McKnight) and Monica (Tim Tessier), and his two sons; George (Kim) in Owen Sound, and Richard in Guelph. George was also a proud grandfather to five grandchildren. He will be loved and remembered by his granddaughter from Owen Sound, Ryah Schwarting, and his four grandchildren from Victoria B.C., Tyler Finan, and Aiden, Austin and Mason Randall. George was also lucky to have experienced the joy of being a great grandfather to two lovely great grandchildren, Sylas and Avery from Victoria, B.C. George will also be greatly missed by the many friends and people who were lucky to know him, as well as his close friends from the Flesherton area. He is survived by his family above, his brother Dieter (Erika), in Germany. Predeceased by wife Baerbel, his brothers Willy and Heinz, and sisters Erika (Otto) and Ursel.
George was born in April of 1936 in Wildeshausen, Germany and was the eldest of three children of Johann Diedrich Schwarting (father) and Johanne Anne Schwarting (mother). He spent his younger years working as a farmer and enjoyed spending any free time doing what he loved, hunting. before George was presented with the opportunity to run a boar farm in Canada. Following his passion and dreams, George made the decision to move his family to Canada in 1973. George spent many years in Proton Station running the boar farm with his wife Baerbel and raising his two children, Hildegard and George. After the boar farm, George moved his family to Lone Butte, B.C. and then back to Ontario, finally setting down roots in Flesherton. Upon retiring, he enjoyed spending his time hunting, gardening, helping friends and people with whatever he could and loved spending his time with friends and family, always making time for a good cup of coffee, phone call or visit whenever he could.
George will be remembered as a kind, caring, compassionate and loving man. He always smiled and stopped for a quick chat whenever he ran into anybody. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it, whether it was doing yard work, shoveling snow, driving someone around if they were unable to, or picking up groceries or other shopping items just to name a few. George was known to just show up unexpected to the home of some of his close friends with something he would have randomly picked up since he knew it was something they used or needed or thought would be useful, groceries, or even just a coffee and visit. He never hesitated to help someone in need in whatever way he could. George loved telling stories of his younger days in Germany, and he would never realize that he would switch between English and German when he was talking, and would get super animated and expressive if you brought up the topic of hunting or politics.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date to allow for safe travels for friends and family from farther away; to be notified of when, please contact schwarting@gmail.com. Memorial donations to the Canadian Wildlife Federation would be greatly appreciated.
