George Declan Hamilton Monday December 28th 2020

George Hamilton
It is with gratitude for a long life well-lived that the family of George Hamilton announce his passing at Providence Care Hospital on December 28, 2020, at the age of 87.
Born on October 27, 1933 to the late Dr. Wm. Gordon and Caroline (Fahey) Hamilton, George peacefully left this world to be with his beloved Lord and all of his loved ones who have gone before him.
Devoted husband of 49 years to the late Marilyn (Beach) Hamilton. Lovingly remembered by his children Paul Hamilton (Kathy) and Laurie Hamilton. George will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Ryan Dabros (Lauren), Shane Dabros (Erin), Michael Hamilton (Rheanne), Victoria Hamilton (Micah), Tom Genore (Amanda), Laura Genore (Alan) and his great-grandchildren Ella, Maya, Joshua and Brayden.
George grew up in a large loving family and is survived by sisters Patricia (Teedie) Hamilton and Eleanor Lewis (Harry). Predeceased by brothers Jack (Doreen), Dr. Harry (Jean), Robert (Elaine), Dr. Greg (Patty), and sisters Marie Carney (Len), Margaret Rooney (Larry), Virginia Farrell (Dr. Maurice).
After his retirement, George spent many years volunteering at the Kingston Mission Food Bank, and preparing tax returns for the less fortunate through the Salvation Army.
George had a wonderful sense of humour. He was incredibly generous and giving, and has been described by many as “just the kindest man”.
George lived his life fully and loved nothing more than to spend time with his family. He thought the world of his girls, Laurie, who considered George her rock, always there to love and support her, and Victoria, his favourite (not to mention only) granddaughter.
He was devoted to his sister Teedie, and spent time with her every chance he could get.
On his birthday, he enjoyed an outing to the casino with his kids and grandkids, with dinner afterwards. George enjoyed and looked forward to his time spent with his golf friends and his fellow volunteers at Salvation Army.
He loved hockey (and Pro-line), and would spend hours every week working on his football picks. George particularly looked forward to his annual ice fishing trip with his son and all of his grandsons (except the getting there since he thought Paul drove too fast).
George’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Kingston General Hospital and Providence Care Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion Dad received.
A private family Catholic mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Kingston and burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kingston Mission Food Bank or Salvation Army would be appreciated.
