Obituary
“Corky” George William Fink was born December 7, 1926 the youngest of seven children born to George and Marie Fink. Corky was predeceased by his parents; brothers Tom and Tony; and sisters Irene, Rosemarie, Monica, and Rita. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Corky went to school in Chesterwold and completed his education at Lakeland College. He became a pilot and flew with Gateway Aviation for many years, including pipeline surveillance, highway law enforcement, bush pilot in the NWT, flying hunters and gear for the likes of John Wayne, Chief Dan George, and Lee Marvin, just to mention a few. Corky later flew for Buffalo Air fighting forest fires and worked at the airport in Penhold after he retired.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ponoka at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 with the Interment Service following at Forest Home Cemetery.
Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta.
The family would like to thank Northcott Care Centre for the wonderful care and pleasant atmosphere they provided for Corky. Also a huge thank you to a very dear friend to Corky, Katie from Helping Hands, for bringing so much joy and putting the biggest smile on his face and taking him out for outings.
