George’s Obituary
HAAYER, George Berend ~ of Berwick, Kings Co., passed away suddenly on Friday, November 6, 2020, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, at age 90. It is with great sadness we say goodbye. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Jan (Lynn), Kentville; Dorothy (Richard), Medicine Hat, Alta; Jesse (Karen), Berwick; George (Bernice), Waterville; one granddaughter; seven grandsons; 11 great grandchildren, companion, Miriam Moore and his precious little dog, Bim; siblings, Alice Oelen, Morrisburg, Ont.; Reinie (Jan) Speelman, Aylesford; and Bernie (Suzanne) Ottawa, Ont.; as well as several adored nieces and nephews. After the Second Word War, George and his family immigrated to Canada and he established a career as a well-known mechanic in the Berwick area. He was predeceased by his parents, Jan and Dirkje Haayer; his wife of 53 years, Mae; sisters, Dina, Catherine and Joanne; and brothers, Jack and Eilderd. A graveside service will be held in Berwick Cemetery, at a later date. Donations in George’s memory may be made to the Harbourville Restoration Society.   1. To the Haayer Family, Much love & many, many hugs are being sent your way. Was so glad I got to spend a few hours with him this summer. Will always remember the good times & hope you all will as well. He lived a long happy life. I loved him, too & will never forget how kind both your parents were to me. Love you all, but even more so right now. Thinking of you all.
