George Andre Poirier Friday October 23rd 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Poirier. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Laura of 66 years, son Bob (Deirdre), daughter Louise (Jim Abriel), son Bill (Gina), six grandchildren Tyler (Caroline), Kaitlyn, Olivia, Danica, Lauren, two great grandchildren Aria, Logan and numerous relatives and friends.
George was born in Winnipeg and moved to Coquitlam in his late teens where he met the love of his life, Laura. Together they had a full and adventurous life. His travels took him coast to coast in Canada and the USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Spain, Portugal, France and Morocco. But his beloved Hawaii was where he spent most of his holidays and retirement. He took pride in the summer home he built in the late 60’s on the Sunshine Coast where he entertained, shared a glass of wine or two and spent many hours fishing.
George was a dedicated employee who spent 40 years in the Pulp & Paper industry; he instilled great work ethics upon his children. His love of card playing with the grandkids, swimming and billiards kept him active but
his biggest love was his family.
Due to Covid rules, a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima will be by invitation only. A special thanks to the warm comfort and care he received from the Mountainview Staff at Nicola Care Centre.
