It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of George Albert Tobin, age 67, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, on Friday July 24, 2020 at his home in North Sydney.
Born in Bras d’Or, July 11, 1953, George was the son of the late William and Gwendolyn (Stubbert) Tobin. In earlier years he sailed on the Great Lake Boats, later he travelled out west working as a labourer with Union Local #92. George enjoyed being at home spending time with his family, he loved to sing, camping trips, watching hockey games especially when the Toronto Maple Leaf’s were playing and hanging out with many great friends.
George is survived by his wife Ida (MacDonald) Tobin, daughter Brittany, “his pride and joy”, sisters Cathy MacIntosh and Merle (Ray) Boutilier, a brother William (Eileen) Tobin, nieces and nephews, close friends Danny Boutilier and Carl Thurbide.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by a brother Allard, sisters Madonna and Janet.
By request there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held for George at 1:00 p.m. Thursday July 30th at Holy Cross Cemetery with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
