Obituary of Genevieve M. B. Dugas
It is with great sadness that the Dugas family announces the passing of Genevieve Bertha Dugas, wife of the late, Denis Joseph Dugas, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on May 26, 2020. Born in 1925 on Nov. 14th in Nash Creek, NB, Genevieve was the daughter of the late, James Murphy and Emilie Hickey.
Genevieve is survived by her brother, Tim (Audrey) Murphy of Lorne, NB; daughter, Bonnie (James) Kinnamon of Maine; son, Curtis (Cathy) of Rothesay, NB; grandson, Corey (Joanna) great-grandson, Neil, of Saint John, NB; granddaughter, Sabrina (Adam) Spence of Halifax, NS; great-grandsons, Jack and Nate of Halifax, NS. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: Selvaster, Dossie, Ralph, Abe; sisters: Opal, Evelyn and Rita.
In 1950, Genevieve and Denis decided to move from Lorne, NB to set up their roots in Saint John, where they raised their children whom they took great pride in. During her working years, Genevieve was supervisor of the Dietary Kitchen at the Saint John Regional Hospital for 35 years, retiring at the age of 65. In her free time she enjoyed knitting, reading, going for walks, watching her favourite TV channel, Bravo.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Friday, August 7, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Staff will be available at the main entrance of the funeral home to greet and assist you with Covid-19 protocol. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 31 Gondola Point Rd, Quispamsis, on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 11:00AM, with physical distancing measures in place. Interment to take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society of NB, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
