Gavin “Lloyd” Pearston
1941-2020
Gavin “Lloyd” Pearston – 78, Bible
Hill. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the
passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and great
grandfather. Lloyd passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at The
Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro, with his family by his side. Born
in the family home in Cape Negro, Shelburne County, he was a son of
the late Gavin and Ethel (Swaine) Pearston.
Lloyd drove long haul trucks for 27 years throughout Canada
and the United States and was best known for driving for numerous taxi
firms in Truro. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends,
especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of
Lloyd’s favourite memories was of his niece, Connie, at a
young age; she would watch for him out the window and start making
funny faces at him as soon as she saw the car and this is why she is
affectionately known as his “Funny
Face”.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth
(Chestnut); daughter, Gina (Edward) Neves, Advocate; son, Scott
(Kelly) Pearston, Prelate, Saskatchewan; daughter, Diane Pearston
(Steve Spears), Truro; grandchildren, Anthony (Tina) Pearston, David
(Jessica) Pearston, Wyatt Pearston (Bree Rushton), Nicholas Pearston,
Michael Pearston, Angelina Pearston, all of Truro and Bible Hill;

(Savannah) Robertson, all of Alberta; great grandchildren, Myles,
Harper, Shilo, Alexander, Jack, Christine, Oliver; brother, John
(Marg) Pearston, Oakville, Ontario; sister, Jean Pearston-Desjardins,
Montreal, Quebec; brothers-in-law, Arnold (Sally) Chestnut, Ontario;
George (Bev) Chestnut, North River; Richard (Geraldine) Chestnut,
Truro; Arthur Chestnut; sisters-in-law, Margaret Anne (Andy)
Dauphinee, Valley; Elizabeth Glass, Truro; Mabel-Lynn (Ernie) Dickson,
Truro; several generations of nieces and nephews; special cousins,
Cindy Harris, Cape Negro, Shelburne County; Hebert Moyer, New
Hampshire. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his
parents-in-law, Elmer and Agnes (Cole) Chestnut; grandson, Christopher
Beal-Ramirez; sister, Grace Belding; brothers-in-law, Robert Chestnut,
Warren Glass, Gilles Desjardins; sister-in-law, Judy Prodger; nephew,

The family would like to extend a special “Thank
You” to all of the health care workers who helped to look
after Lloyd during his illness.
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of
his life will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations in
Lloyd’s memory to Shriners Hospital for Children (Canada),
IWK Health Centre Foundation or Colchester Food Bank are
welcomed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
