Obituary of Gary Elden Bone
Gary Eldon Bone, born on August 7, 1944, passed away on July 21, 2020 in Provost, Alberta after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his mother Ethel Bone, father Elden Bone and brother David Bone.
Gary was born in Hardisty, Alberta and spent most of his youth there until moving with his young family to Edmonton in 1968. Gary learned the value of hard work and started his long career as a mechanic in his dad’s garage in Hardisty. His first job in Edmonton, where he worked for years as a heavy-duty mechanic and made several of his lifelong friends, was at Bennet & Emmet. After some time at the Government of Alberta he later worked for many years at Computalog Wireline before moving back to his small town roots in Metiskow, Alberta, where he spent the last 16 years of his life.
Gary always enjoyed the peace and solitude of being in nature; from time at the beloved cabin on the river, to his hunting and fishing trips. Enjoying the company of friends with some Johnny Cash in the background was where he spent some of his best times. In his later years, he spent time farming and ranching. He was a devoted son to his mother, Ethel, in her last years and their time together was treasured by both.
He is survived by his daughters Trudy Kueber (Joe) and Tracy Zeisberger (Wolfgang) along with 4 grandchildren, dear Uncle Darell Goodrich, extended family and many friends.
The family wishes to thank all of the healthcare professionals who helped care for him in his final days at the Provost Health Centre and a most heartfelt thank you to his dear friend Terry and his wife Tammy for always being there, both in life and in death.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alberta Cross Cancer Institute, the Prostate Cancer Canada Foundation, Diabetes Canada or the charity of your choice in his memory.
