Gary Winston Anderson, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully at home in Belnan, on October 31, 2020, with loving family by his side.
Born in Liverpool, NS, on November 23,1945 and raised in Dartmouth, NS, he was the son of the late Lester and Annie (Conrad) Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Donna (Schrader); daughters, Lisa (Mike) Sooley, Baden, ON; Sherry (Leslie) Kelly, Moncton, NB; Danielle, Moncton, NB; Denise, Moncton, NB; and son Jansen (Alyzia), Belnan, NS; 11 grandchildren: Jordan and Alexander Sooley; Conrad Kelly; Matthew and Joseph Poirier; Steven (Ashley) Maltais, Josee Maltais and Mackenzie Colborne; Samantha, Caitlin and Mallory Anderson and great granddaughters Alina and Olivia Maltais; foster grandchildren Natalie, Lise and Matthieu; brother Ernie and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by infant daughter, Gina Charmaine, sister Elsie (Hill) and brothers Victor, Raymond, & Vernon.
Gary was a loving husband and devoted father and happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He owned and operated 4 Hire Airport Taxi and provided professional car service at Halifax Stanfield International Airport for more than 35 years. He loved his profession and enjoyed meeting new people and the camaraderie of the other drivers. Gary was a hard worker with an entrepreneurial spirit. He and Donna built 4 houses and enjoyed working on many projects together. Gary took pride in his home and loved taking care of his property. He and Donna loved to travel and Cuba was his favourite destination. Gary was blessed with a wonderful sense of humour and loved making up stories especially stories of being a pirate to tell his grandchildren. He was a gifted guitar player and liked to sing and could play a variety of musical instruments. He was a member of Nine Mile River United Church.
We were so blessed to have him in our lives and we will miss him dearly and forever hold him in our hearts!
The family would like to thank the VON of Colchester East Hants and his Palliative Care Team for their loving and compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life (invitation only) will be held on November 7 at 2pm at Nine Mile River United Church, with Rev. Kim Curlett officiating. A live stream will be available at Riverview and Nine Mile River United Church Facebook page. Due to COVID 19 restrictions there will be no public visitation or reception. Interment will take place at a later date.
