Obituary of Garth Harvie
HARVIE, Donald “Garth”-age 72 of East Gore passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2020 with his loving family by his side. Born in East Gore on June 14, 1948, he was a son of the late Donald and Edna (Dalrymple) Harvie.
Garth was a drill master operator for Dexter Construction before retiring. He enjoyed deer hunting at the camp with his grandson, Colby and watching NASCAR racing, always cheering for numbers 18 and 11. He also enjoyed watching the Miller Brothers, numbers 90 and 92 at our local tracks. He was a devoted family man who always put his family first.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Janice (McCulloch); daughters, Rhonda (Pete) Miller and Melissa (Kristian) Joudrey; grandson, Colby Crossman, granddaughter, Annalise Crossman; step granddaughter, Erikka Joudrey; step great-grandson, Finnegan Fletcher; brothers, Colin (Jenny), Kevin (Gloria); several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by son-in law, Kevin Crossman.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A funeral service will be held at a later date.
Donations in Garth’s memory may be made to VON or West Gore Cemetery, c/o Margaret Redden 760 Valley Road West Gore, NS B0N 2N0.
Special thanks to our daughters, Rhonda and Melissa, Dr. Iain MacNeil and nurses, Dawn, Amanda, Linda, Lindsay and Holly for making it possible to care for Garth at home. The place he was the happiest.
