Obituary
Garry John Fell, went peacefully on December 31st, 2020 at the age of 73, to be reunited after 25 years apart, with the love of his life, his predeceased wife, Mary Fell (Corbett). After a long battle with cancer, we find relief knowing that he is now free from pain.
Garry; son of the late John and Laurene Fell, grew up on their idyllic farm just outside of Orillia and he had a great love of the outdoors. He is survived by his brothers Bill (Lynne), Bryan (Gina) and Bob (Kim) and his sister Donna Plue (Priit Pallopson). Garry cherished the special relationship he had with each of them.
For the past 25 years, Garry has dedicated his life to raising his 2 beloved children, Johanna and Craig (Jacquie) Fell. As a single parent of 2 small children, Garry rose to life’s greatest challenge with more fortitude and courage than anyone could possibly fathom. He was a loving, present, hands-on Dad and encouraged his children to cherish life and travel the world. In May of 2020, Garry’s adorable Granddaughter Tessa became the person he most loved to photograph and spend quality time with.
In Mary’s absence, Garry’s life was filled with an abundance of family love and kind-hearted people. The Ford’s (Aubrey, Lib and Emily) became Garry, Johanna and Craig’s second family; creating a lifetime of priceless memories together. Ken Taylor and Marjorie Tomlin can be found in Merriam-Webster under the title; exceptional friends. Ken stoked Garry’s thirst for adventure, many of which they shared over the years. Marjorie was an unparalleled companion and confident; morning walks together always started the day off right.
Garry was also the brother-in-law of the late Anne Corbett and Doug (Sandy) Corbett of Burlington. He was the proud uncle of his nieces and nephews – Nichola, Jeff, Mike, Brian, Lauree, Bill, Sarah, Tyler, Caleb, Lexie, Michele, Mark and Megan.
Garry, a former student and a long-time teacher at Park Street Collegiate Institute in Orillia, will also go down as an indelible figure for all of the students’ lives that he impacted in his 3-decade Career.
We will miss Garry’s themed dinner parties, mouth-watering cooking and bridge group get-together’s in our post COVID world. Annual trips to Fenelon Falls brought us memories that will last us a lifetime. As an avid gardener and ice cream lover, it was also the small things that brought him great joy.
The family would like to thank all of the amazing and supportive nurses and doctors at OSMH – specifically Jeff and Nicole in Oncology who spent countless hours with Garry during his regular transfusions. As well as RVH and Princess Margaret who have treated him over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Donations can be made to Paso Por Paso and Princess Margaret Hospital.
