Obituary
Garfield (Gar) Dewar passed away on April 12th, 2020 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, at the age of 92.
Gar was born on July 7th, 1927. He attended Hazlet School.
On April 24, 1948 Gar married Violet (Vi) Wilson and they began their farm life together. They loved to visit, play cards and go to dances. Gar and Violet raised their two sons, Lonnie and Larry, on the farm.
Farming was the highlight of Gar’s life. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and going to the coffee shop in Hazlet. Gar tuned in to the Trading Post each and every day.
Gar & Vi moved into the Village of Hazlet in 1979 where they had the best view in town! Forty years later, they moved to Riverview Estates in Swift Current in April 2019.
Gar was predeceased by his parents Bob & Ethel Dewar, baby daughter Judy, brother Lyle Dewar and half brother Floyd Anderson.
Gar will be forever missed by his children Lonnie (Sharleen) of Medicine Hat, AB, Larry (Michelle) of Hazlet, SK.
Grandchildren Dagan, Cody (Amber), Galen, Shea (Ashley), Tara & Brandon. Great-Grandchildren Adrianna, Caitlyn, Jaxon and Orion.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Gar may be made to the Hazlet Rink Complex or Hazlet Regional Park.
