Gaile McParland
December 04, 1940 – September 03, 2020
At her home on Wabigoon Lake at the age of 79, Gaile passed peacefully on September 3, 2020. Gaile was born in Dryden on December 4, 1940 and raised her 3 sons, Dale, Brad and Earl in Kenora and Dryden.
Gaile is survived by her husband, Dennis; sons Dale, Brad (Debbie), and Earl Oien; grandchildren Mitchell, Lyndsey, Scottie and great grandson, Lincoln; and her sister Betty Nyberg. Gaile is also survived by her dear friend and niece, Pam Miller, several other nieces and nephews, and many great friends.
Gaile was predeceased by her father Jack Heaver (Laura Spicer), sister’s Ailleen Miller, Marie Frazier, and brother Dick Heaver.
After raising her family in Kenora, Gaile found employment at Caren Insurance in Dryden where she soon became a broker and was introduced to the love of her life at a Christmas party in 1978. Gaile and Dennis married 4 years later in 1982 and lived on the shores of Wabigoon Lake. Here they shared their love of fishing and often slipped away to catch a fresh supper. Many summers were spent camping up the Basket Lake Road where friends would join them and parties became the norm.
Gaile also had many other interests. In the summer she tended her beautiful garden, hosted many fish fries, and loved to entertain relatives and friends. In the winter, she loved to curl and bonspiel with the girls often travelling for fun curling and gambling weekends to U.S. towns. Snowbird destinations took her and Dennis to Yuma and Port Aransas, Texas, and Lake Havasu, Arizona. In the fall, Gaile often accompanied Dennis on moose hunts and loved to ride the new side by side looking for grouse. In the past few years when trips to the U.S. were no longer an option, Gaile enjoyed making spring and fall excursions to South Beach Casino where she departed grudgingly with her hard earned dollars, but was rewarded with a few windfalls too. Gaile also loved to do jigsaw puzzles, and complicated 1,000-piece challenges were no match for her skills.
Gaile’s family extends their deepest gratitude to her niece Pam, and best friend Debbie who made many arrangements to ensure her peace and comfort in her final days.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate Gaile’s life will be held on Friday, September 11 Th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Al Campeau officiating.
