Obituary of Frederick Long
LONG, Frederick “Fred” of Port Dover passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, at Hamilton General Hospital on Friday, November 13, 2020, at the age of 56. Loving and dedicated husband and soul mate of Penny for 31 years. Best friend and father of Matt (Jodi) and Shelby (Kyle). Loving son of Bernice. Dear brother of Edward (Debby), Alice and Connie. Predeceased by his father Fred Long Sr., sister, Tammy and brother, Ron. Fred will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews and extended family. Fred was a member of the Port Dover Kinsmen and a dedicated Volunteer Firefighter for 15 years. In his spare time Fred loved spending time on the lake, boating and fishing. He was also known for his love of bonfires and country music. Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, Port Dover 519-583-1530. A graveside service will be held to honour Fred’s life on Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Port Dover Cemetery, for those wishing to attend please call the funeral home between 9 am and 4 pm to register to attend. The Reverend Brian Elder officiating. Face masks are required and social distancing between bubbles is requested. The family thanks everyone who has supported Fred over the last 2 months and thank you to all the doctors and nurses in ICU at Hamilton General for making his last days comfortable. For those wishing, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Simcoe and District Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
