Frances I. “Fran” Carrie-Ritchie
1931-2020
Mrs. Frances Isabelle “Fran” (nee Grant)
Carrie-Ritchie – age 89, passed away in the Valley Regional Hospital,
Kentville, NS, in the early morning of Friday, September 18, 2020.
Born in Halifax, NS, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and
Marion (Troop) Grant. Frances was predeceased by her first husband,
Allan M. Carrie and second husband, George William “Bill”
Ritchie. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great
grandmother as well as step mother and step grandmother and will be
missed by all those who loved and knew her. Frances is survived by her
son, Allan G. Carrie, Centerville, NS and his wife, Brenda; their
three children, Christopher, Jessica and Ryan (his fiancé,
Brittany Cleveland and her daughter, Addy), all of Kentville, NS; her
daughter, Kathryn “Kathy” MacLean, Ottawa, ON and her
husband, Bruce; their two children, Matthew, Ottawa and Alexander (his
wife, Melissa), Lac Laronge SK; great-grandchildren, Deacon and
Charlie. She is also survived by her brother, Ronald Grant, Annapolis
Royal and his wife, Norma; niece, Susan and her husband, Mark Hoare;
great nephews, Anthony and Bradly, Kentville, NS; niece, Carolyn and
her husband, Scott Longmire; great nieces, Lauren, Emma, and Ally, all
of Upper Granville, NS; step children, Connie Young and her husband,
Al and family, Calgary AB; step son, Wayne Ritchie and partner, Lois,
Halifax NS. Frances was a teacher and started her career in Granville
Center and went on to Central Kings Rural High School. She later spent
most of her 34 years teaching at Kings County Academy in Kentville,
NS. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation as per
her request. A private graveside internment will be held in Elm Grove
Cemetery, Steam Mill, NS at a later date. Donations in memory may be
made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements
have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
