Florence’s Obituary
STELLARTON – Florence Ina Stroud, 90, Stellarton, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Murray Harbour, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Stanford and Edith (Fraser) MacKay. Prior to retirement, Florence was employed as a Personal Care Worker with Valley View Villa, Riverton for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and colouring. Florence possessed a sense of adventure and when her health permitted, enjoyed traveling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who lived her life helping others.
Surviving are daughters, Deborah Stroud (Henry Langille), Westville; Marilyn Bobyk (Sandy Morrison), Coalburn; Nancy Stroud, Stellarton; Susan (Shawn) Dashwood, Brampton, Ont.; son, James Stroud (Diane Mccann), Stellarton; sister-in-law, Lillian Stroud, Riverton; grandchildren, Shawna (Bobby), Monica (Robert), Crystal (Chris), Jeffery and J.D. (Jay); great-granddaughters, Fox, Rebecca, Savannah, Emma, Keira, and Mia; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Alvin Stroud; sister, Violet Marr; brother, Lowell MacKay.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, February 22nd in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, February 23rd in the Chapel with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
