Florence’s Obituary
BRANNEN, Florence Hilda – It is with heavy hearts that the family wishes to share that Florence H. Brannen of Stoney Island, Shelburne County, NS, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2020, at Roseway Manor, Shelburne NS. Florence was predeceased by her loving husband S. Lowell Brannen and beloved grandson John Brannen and is survived by sons Harold (Rose) Brannen and L.Shurben (Laurie) Brannen; grandchildren Carlyle (Sandy), Scott (Jenilee), Kimberly (Stephen Mackay) and Elizabeth; and great grandchildren Dillon, Tori, Carley, Emma, Brody, Jessy and Rae-ann who all will forever lovingly remember their “Nanny Fo-Fo” for her great sense of humour, her laughter and especially her deep love for them. Florence and Lowell enjoyed their life together and rarely did you see one without the other; they spent fun times together socializing with friends and family, went to card parties, dances and suppers and even went deer hunting together. Over the years Florence stitched countless beautiful quilts, knitted countless pairs of mittens, socks and sweaters and loved to see a hole in a shirt or pants that she could painstakingly patch to perfection. Florence belonged to the congregation of the Stoney Island Baptist Church and held her faith close in her heart. She was the daughter of the late Oren and Hilda Nickerson of Lower Clarks Harbour; she was predeceased by her sister Violet Newell (Bruce) and survived by sister Margaret Pottier (Augustine), sister Annie Huskins (Murray), sister Patsy Smith (George), sister Donna Smith (Norman), sister Barbara Nickerson (Phillip), brother Maxwell Nickerson (Sally) and sister Monica D’Entremont (David). The family is ever so grateful for all the kindness and care Florence received while she was a resident first in Surf Lodge, then Bayside Home and finally in Roseway Manor, a sincere and heartfelt thank you to you all! Arrangements have been entrusted to H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. In keeping with Covid-19 protocols there will be no traditional funeral service or visitation. Family and friends are invited to use the obituary link provided on Sunday March 29th at 2pm to view a live stream service with Pastor Wayne Crowell officiating.
