Obituary
We are saddened to announce the passing of our dear mother, Fay Waite, who passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the age of 90 in the Orange Memories Care Home in Rosetown, SK.
Mom was born in Elrose on August 22, 1929 and was the first child of Edward & Sadie McDonald’s to be born in the hospital – the oven door did not have to be used to keep her warm. She attended Lions Head Country School then completed her high schooling in Wiseton. After graduating, Mom remained on the home farm south of Wiseton for a few years to help out as much as possible. Fay moved to Sovereign in the early 50’s to work at Sinclair’s Grocery Store where she met her beloved Keith, an area farmer. They were married on December 29, 1952 and spent the next 60 years together until Keith’s passing in November of 2012.
Fay took great pride in her home and kept it immaculate. Being a homemaker and raising her family was Fay’s gift. She was a wonderful cook and her toffee was enjoyed by all. When she baked cookies, they were all the same size, or when she cut up a slice, each piece was exactly the same. When she presented a tray of goodies to the public, it was perfect! Fay deeply loved her family and was very proud of all their accomplishments. Weddings, babies, sports and special events with family and friends were so important to her. Mom was a member of the Sovereign United Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.
Fay is survived by her loving son Laurie (Donna) Waite and daughter Heather (Dale) Maxemniuk. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Mitchell (Aline) Waite, Karla (Rod) Cowie, Landan Waite, Jamie (Katlin) Maxemniuk, Jesse (Kelley-Anne) Maxemniuk and by her precious great-grandchildren Hailey, Charlotte and Keith Waite and Jones, Meyer and Brynley Maxemniuk. She is also survived by her sister Helen McDonald-Lewis and sister-in-law’s Carol, Rae and Kay McDonald along with many nieces and nephews.
Fay was predeceased by her husband Keith, granddaughter Kylie Waite, Baby Boy Maxemniuk, parents Edward & Sadie McDonald, parents-in-law William & Charlotte Waite along with family members: Beth & Ivan McDonald, Marnie & Bob Mogan, Edward & Mabel McDonald, Jean & Ellis Topp, Dorothy & Osborne Thrasher, Duncan & Ray McDonald, Olive & Don Brown, Burns, Jack and Jim McDonald, Bill Lewis, Dr. W.T. & Margaret Waite and Penny Waite.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the staff at Orange Memories Care Home. They touched her life in ways that we, her family, could not. They loved and cared for her, each and every day and her family will always be grateful to every one of you who extended that love and kindness.
As per Mom’s wishes there will be a family burial at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Sovereign Highland Cemetery Fund, Box 1, Sovereign, SK, S0L 3A0.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Fay Bertha McDonald WAITE August 22 1929 May 16 2020 (age 90)..
