F. Stuart Hamon
It is with profound sadness that Stuart’s family announce his peaceful passing at Granite Ridge Care Community on November 23, 2020, predeceased by his eldest son Stephen Hamon and older brother Douglas Hamon. He is survived by his wife, Helen, his sons Christopher and Gregory (Shirley), his grandchildren Joshua, Matthew (Ashley), Micheal and step-grandson Brett Webb. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law George and Joseph Shelfoon and sisters-in-law Elaine Hamon, Ann Withey and Beryl Shelfoon.
Stuart worked at Ottawa Hydro for 37 years, with a few years of teaching in Orangeville, Ontario. He retired as Assistant Superintendent in 1989. He was a dedicated family man, happiest travelling, camping, boating and fishing with his family. His hobbies included carving & painting wooden birds and creating stained glass ornaments with which he and Helen participated in local craft fairs. They also did a lot of travelling after retirement and were active members of the Friendship Force of Ottawa, both hosting and being hosted by other families around the world. Stuart was a gentle, easy-going man who was always available when anyone needed help.
Due to COVID-19, the family has decided to hold only a small private service at Tubman’s Funeral Home followed by the interment at Beechwood Cemetary. Those wishing to make donations in his memory are asked to consider giving to the Dementia Society of Ottawa or another charity of your choice.
