Evelyn Margaret Riley nee Craig April 22nd 1923 June 22nd 2020

It is with great sadness that we say good-bye to our loving Mom, Gram & GG. She passed away peacefully in the presence of her family. She was predeceased by her parents Everett and Olive Craig, her sister Gwendy (2008) and by the love of her life Bill (1983). She is survived by children Lyn Reid(Warwick) and Craig (Christine); grandchildren Andrea Reid(Mark), Matt (Shaina), Jillian, Rachel and Lauren and great grandchildren Will, JP, Tommy, Nova and Kaia.
Ev was born and raised in Penticton and attended Normal School in
Victoria. She and Bill were married in Penticton in 1945. Over the next 37 years as Bill was promoted at CP Express, they lived in Sicamous, Cranbrook, Vancouver, Penticton, Calgary and Toronto. She taught school almost everywhere they lived. After Bill’s passing in 1983, Ev returned to Vancouver and spent the next 37 years living a new life. She reconnected with old friends and played many years of golf and bridge, travelled several times to Europe and California and enjoyed many courses at SFU’s downtown campus. She was a long- time season ticket holder at the Vancouver Symphony, Opera and Arts Club. She was delighted with and always interested in her grandchildren and especially taken with her great grandchildren and enjoyed visits when they dropped in to see her.
Cremation has already taken place. There will be a gathering of her friends and family at a later date. Please make a donation to Covenant House in her memory, if you so wish.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Evelyn Margaret Riley nee Craig April 22nd 1923 June 22nd 2020..

  1. Ev was always a great inspiration to all of us at SFU and she will be greatly missed. I am forever grateful that she and I became good friends. Her warmth, charm, knowledge and humanity were ever present as were her wonderful endearing stories about her family – children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They and I are blessed to have had this wonderful lady in our lives.
