KOEHLER: Evelyn Irene Koehler passed away at the Assiniboine Centre on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the age of 90 years. Evelyn will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Matewish (Brian); grandchildren; Michelle Martin (Jason) and Sean (Brianna); great-grandchildren, Haiden, Madina, Belle, Ryleigh, and CeCe and cousins; Mavis York of Bellingham, WA, Sally (Bill) Church of Bellingham, WA, Donna Fraser of Maple Creek, SK, and her children Shane of Saskatoon, SK and Kelsey of Medicine Hat, AB. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Merlin and infant daughter, Maxine Denise. Evelyn was born in Harding, MB on October 27, 1929 to Harry and Nina McTaggart. She worked as a medical secretary at the Brandon General Hospital for 30 years. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, knitting, word and jigsaw puzzles and reading. She was also an avid bowler winning many pins and trophies. Evelyn loved all animals having a special place in her heart for her birds, cats and dogs. She was a member of Central United Church as well as a member of the UCW. A private family service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street East, Brandon, MB, R7A 7M6 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8. The family would like to thank the staff at Valleyview Care Centre as well as the 3rd Floor Assiniboine Centre staff for their care and compassion.
