Memorial Donation
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our dear, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Evelyn Axelia Marzolf of Edmonton Alberta, passed away on Sept 1st after a brief battle with pneumonia. Evelyn is described as a warm, sweet, kind, and faith-filled mother, who was active in her church. She was born daughter of Emelia and Axel Rosdal in Robsart Saskatchewan. Evelyn began her early years in Robsart and to escape the depression in the 1930’s, her family moved to Rolling Hills, Alberta. She attended the Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute in Camrose then on to Normal School to become a teacher in Scandia where she met the love of her life, the principal, Archie Marzolf. They moved to Edmonton in 1953 where they raised their four children. She became involved in many areas of service in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada. For six years Evelyn held the seat of president of the National Evangelical Lutheran Church Women and was a delegate for the Lutheran World Federation 6th Assembly in Dar es Salaam Tanzania, Africa. She held a position on the board of National Church Council of the Canadian Lutheran Church for 14 years. She then accompanied Archie for a 2-year assignment in Singapore where she taught an English class. Evelyn leaves behind: children Lorna Gaunt (Beau & Tove great-grandson Tyko , Melissa, Luke); Doreen Babin husband Mark (Tasha & Adam, Jayd & Jill, Syriess & Austin, Mitch, Eric & Pam great-grandson Nolan, Scott & Kayla); Dale Marzolf wife Elaine (Louise & Darby, great grandsons Branson and Gray, Brock, Thomas); Debbie Lenton husband Peter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered for her unwavering faith in God, her contagious laughter and how she flooded our lives with unconditional love. In respect of the Covid19 rules a private celebration of life will be held for the immediate family on Sept 8, 2020 at Faith Lutheran Church in Rolling Hills Alberta. We extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Shepherds Care Millwoods for their compassionate care.
