Euphemia “Phemie” Menard
North Sydney
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Margaret Euphemia “Phemie” Menard, age 85, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, Phemie was the daughter of the late John B. and Anastasia (MacIntyre) Morrison. During her life, she was a CNA, an avid quilter and sewer, spending many dedicated hours on her creations. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in North Sydney.
Phemie is survived by three of her four children: Annalee (John) Morgan of Maine, Jan-Marie (Orval) Dearing, New Glasgow, and Allison Menard, North Sydney; her four grandchildren: Brian, Kelly, Glen, and Michael Morgan; her sister, Mary Lee MacPherson, Sydney Mines; her brother, Gerard Morrison, Baddeck; her brother-in-law Don Burke.
Aside from her parents, Phemie was predeceased by her husband, Marcel Menard; infant son Aurele Menard (died at birth); her brother, James (Lois) Morrison; her sisters: Theresa Burke, Katherine (Billy) Gardiner, and Miriam (Gerard) Morrison and Ann Winifred in infancy, sister-in-law Colette Morrison, brother-in-law Fraser MacPherson.
By request there will be no visitation. A funeral mass for Phemie will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of choice.
