1924-2020
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ethel J. (Guiggey) Staples
announce her passing on June 5, 2020 at York Care Centre, Fredericton,
NB. Born on June 20, 1924 in Zealand, NB, she was the daughter of the
late James and Edith (Brewer) Guiggey. Ethel was a long-standing
member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Zealand, and the Church Guild.
Her passions were cooking, knitting, and quilting, but most of all,
loving her family and friends.
Ethel is survived by two sons, Murray (Norma) Staples and Ewart
(Sheila) Staples, both of Zealand, NB; one brother Floyd (Lillian)
Guiggey; seven grandchildren Cheryl, Patty, Calvin, Kevin, Chad, John,
and Crystal; ten great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews and a special niece Jocelyn (Skip)
Brewer.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her husband,
Amasa Staples; a son Dean and his wife Ruth; a great granddaughter
Morgan Elizabeth Staples; brothers Wilmot and John; sisters Maggie,
Nellie, Gladys, Almina, Amber, Violet and infant Christina.
A private family funeral will be held with Rev. Ryan Farrell, The
Venerable John Sharpe and Rev. Carl and Evelyn Brewer officiating.
Interment will be in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Zealand,
NB.
For those who wish to make a donation, the family has suggested the
Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Association.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the staff of
Tower One at York Care Centre for the love and care they had given
Ethel, and to Kevin Anderson for always going out of his way to make
Ethel’s day.
