Ernest Ernie Edmund Patterson 19312020

Ernest “Ernie” Edmund Patterson
1931-2020
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ernest
“Ernie” Edmund Patterson on November 20, 2020 at the Dr.
Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on November 22, 1931 in Sheffield, NB,
he was the son of the late Thomas and Dean (Sowers) Patterson and
brother of the late Robert Patterson.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 65 years and best friend,
Shirley (Middleton) Patterson; his son David (Shelly) of Calgary; his
daughter Katherine Claire (Ron) and grandson Eric, all of Moncton;
sister Judy MacKay of Sheffield; brother Wayne (Carol) of Oromocto; a
special niece Bobbie Joe of Sheffield; his extended family and his
very good friend Kevin Anderson, who sat with him by the hour in York
Manor, talking, singing and playing the guitar.
Ernie worked for Logan Geo Technical Engineering for 33 years
as a Drill Operator servicing all 4 Atlantic Provinces. He took part
in the local Flea Markets where he made friends easily. In his younger
days, he enjoyed trapping beavers and muskrats along the Saint John
River, picking fiddleheads, taking trips with Shirley, and spending
time at their cottage with family.
Thank you to York Manor, where Ernie spent 3 years, looked
after by a wonderful team of nurses and care givers. A special thank
you to the Palliative Care Unit at the DECH for their recent care and
attention.
At the request of the family, a graveside service will take
place at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to
the Lakeville Corner Byno Cemetery or a charity of the
donor’s choice.
